Heating Systems

The purpose of adding heat is to lower the relative humidity (RH%) in order to improve the drying ability of the air. The hotter the air, the more water it can contain. When heat is added, the following is obtained.

  • More drying hours per Day
  • Larger capacity at the drying plant
  • Possibility of drying down malting barley (14%)
  • More uniform drying
  • Improving the overall operating economy

There are various forms of heating today. The most common are an oil burner and a hot water calorifier.
